When the religious leaders questioned why Jesus had fellowship with sinful people, Jesus replied with the obvious, then with the truth about His ministry. Jesus’ mission was to invite the spiritually sick to repent and experience a restored relationship with God.
Jesus chose to spend time with people who sensed their own sin and knew they were not good enough for God. In order to come to God, we must repent. Only God helps us recognize our sin for what it is. Only He forgives and restores us. ✨
